Split House is a minimalist residence located in Tokyo, Japan, designed by Naruse Inokuma Architects. The architects proposed a disassociation between the ground and upper level, with the floors connected by an open middle layer space. The configuration was considered due to the difficulty in maintaining privacy without prohibiting natural light. Windows strips are placed right below the ceiling to maximize lighting and privacy as well.
