Convent de Sant Francesc by David Closes

Posted on July 4th, 2012 by

In the small Spanish town Santpedor, architect David Closes has designed the Convent de Sant Francesc, a minimalist interior with a jewel-box of an exterior stair that contrasts with the historical structure. (1)

Name: Convent de Sant Francesc

Designer: David Closes

Location: Santpedor, Spain

Both the simplicity and the complexity of the structure permeate the air with elegance as Closes brings new life to the convent as the glass and steel stair brings the old stone building back to the 21st century. In the nave, bare light bulbs accentuate the vaulted ceilings and seem like souls suspended just before leaving the earth.
