House in Ematsu is a minimal residence located in Aichi, Japan, designed by Airhouse. The client is a family of five, consisting of three daughters and their parents. As such, one of the demands was to have interchangeable partitions that could be easily moved according to future family changes. The result was a two-story space without pillars composed of grid-like beams so that they could be easily removed in order to change the layout. Initially, the last born child was too young to not have partitions, so intead a curtain was used to separate the spaces.
