House in Yanagizaki is a minimalist residence located in Saitama, Japan, designed by co-designstudio. The clients, from the beginning, wanted tatami living spaces facing the south. However, garbage disposal is situated on the south end of the building on the ground level, so the architects decided to place this space on the upper floor. As a result, the tatami mats are adjacent the glazed sliding doors that lead to the balcony.
