Name: Kawate

Designer: Keitaro Muto Architects

Location: Gifu, Japan

Year: 2013

Kawate is a minimalist house located in Gifu, Japan, designed by Keitaro Muto Architects. The home is located in a residential neighborhood one block away from the main street. The architects placed half the building 1.4m into the ground to make the upper floor appear as though it is floating. There are four different ceiling heights due to the split-floor configuration, therefore making the space seem dynamic.
