Name: Patisserie Uchiyama

Designer: Takato Tamagami

Location: Gunma, Japan

Patisserie Uchiyama is a minimalist refurbishment of a textile factory located in Gunma, Japan, designed by Takato Tamagami. The newly designed shop celebrates the previously existing saw-shaped roof. In addition, a multitude of windows were added enhance the visibility of the outside view, as well as allow ample natural lighting to enter the space.

If you look at the side of the building, you can actually get a glimpse of the factory-styled architecture. If I hadn’t read that this was a renovation, I would have been completely fine with the angled rooftops. This whole project blows me away – the interior and exterior are spectacular.
