Pump House Renovation is a minimalist residence located in Shanghai, China, designed by NAN Architects. As the office is settled in a residential area, the privacy of the office is one of the most important factors in this design. The architects moved the terrace to the south facade which is away from the residential buildings. On the north facade, which is visible from the residents, they built a solid wall with a skylight and a bottom ribbon window, which make the space mysterious but not depressed. An added mezzanine space takes advantage of these windows.
