A Residence Next to a Historic Site is a minimalist house created by Japan-based designers HYAD Architects. The elongated site is stretched along the West and East, and is adjacent a historic site facing the East. The building is located close to a number of elementary, junior, and high schools around the area. The architects were restricted in their building plan, and were only allowed to excavate 30cm from the surface as some pieces of Kawara from the Nara period were discovered through the pre-construction investigation.
