The delicate chains in Vanessa Gade‘s collection seem to pass through her metal orbs like strands of  refracted light.  Sculptural, and simplistic, the necklaces, earrings, and bangles that make up her four collections are inspired by Japanese flower arrangements, the art deco movement, and her urban San Francisco landscape.  Indeed, the arches and lines created by drilling holes and threading metal through the framework of her geometric shapes are reminiscent of cityscapes and architecture.  She even dedicates her Wright Angle collection, to celebrated architect, Frank LLoyd Wright and is quietly impactful in its own right.

My favorite piece is her largest pendent–the Inner Circle Necklace 111.  Its stark contrast of black, oxidized silver segmented by a golden yellow 14K gold fill chain is asymmetrical balance at its best.  The bi- and trisected shapes she creates in her jewelry create lovely contradictions in their composition–they are at once sophisticated & childlike, unyielding & organic, fixed & yet, able to shift and change shape and move with its wearer.

The timeless appeal of Gade’s pieces transcend age and even gender distinction–the Forme collection, in particular, is especially edgy and androgynous.  Wear your art on your neck by pairing a statement pendent with a simple tee or sheath dress and let the ‘less-is-more’ look speak for itself.

Stromer is a minimalist design created by German-based design firm njustudio. This design is referred to as the power servant. In the end, all of those gadgets need to be supplied with power. It is unnecessary to stoop down for low-mounted sockets: the power servant is both comfortable and flexible furniture for your office or flat. The electricity provides power, wherever you need it.

The collective njustudio brings the experience of five designers in a collective; the results imply a truly extraordinary will to sublimate the ordinary. Design services are as exciting as the development of a new product. They forced themselves into a conceptual rigor – their ideas are both professional and bohemian, charming and with an independent style of simplicity.

Constructive Kitchen is a minimalist design created by Netherlands-based design firm Studio Mieke Meijer. The sincere and constructive use of honest materials gives the kitchen a rugged and tough appearance. The Forbo-sponsored project features a kitchen with industrial aesthetics utilizing a juxtaposition of metals and woods.

Studio Mieke Meijer is the outcome of close cooperation between Mieke Meijer and her partner Roy Letterlé. Combining their qualities results in designs that are high quality both conceptually and technically. A constructive form language, elegant lines and an industrial character are the key elements. Their passion for detailing and materials contribute to a strong, recognizable signature.

Element Table is a minimalist design created by England-based designer Terence Woodgate for Objekten. The classic modernist rectilinear table, but with a difference. Rounded edges all over give the design a soft tactile feel. Produced in plain oak coming from harvested forests. Made in Germany.

One of the UK’s most respected industrial designers, Terence has become known for a stripped-down, elegant, modern approach to design with an obsessive attention to detail and manufacture, exemplified in products like the ethereal Surface Table designed with John Barnard for Established & Sons.

Year: 2013

Haus am Moor is a minimalist house located in Krumbach, Austria, designed by Bernardo Bader Architects. Within the private forest of Schwarzenberg, the wood was selected, felled, cut, and installed. An overall of 60 spruces, firs and elms were used for construction panels, doors, floor structure and floor boards.

All doors, kitchen, and furniture are made of solid wood. In the grooves of the bricks, the floor heating pipes are placed and covered with a fine sägeroher fir floor. The attempt was to maintain a consistent wood construction, which is connected to the tradition of Bregenzerwald houses.

Name: House in Chayagasaka

Designer: Testuo Kondo

Location: Nagoya, Japan

Year: 2013

House in Chayagasaka is a minimalist house located in Nagoya, Japan, designed by Testuo Kondo. This is a private residential house for a family of four in Nagoya – a young couple and their two small children. The site is located close to a new metro station, in an area that is developing rapidly. As both of the parents work, they wanted to have as much common areas as possible, in order to spend more time together as a family. So the architect decided to build a one-room house, with a lot of subtle balance between connected and separated area.

In this project, the architect tried to achieve architecture that welcomes a large variety of things, in a state where all the parts are mutually interrelated. This architecture is not one dominated by a strong system or built in a well-ordered manner, but rather one that incorporates various meanings and it seems difficult to understand why it was made that way. When making a house for a young family with children that will soon grow up, and the developing area around the house will change fast, it seems to make sense to design a house with very open architecture, one with balance that can accept diversity.

This spacious home includes large floor to ceilings windows as well as skylights to illuminate the space with as much natural lighting as possible. The white walls are juxtaposed against natural wood floors and black accents. Built up over the years by our craftsmen network, Aprikari has access to the best artisan firms in the area. Aprikari has the privilege of sourcing an exclusive team for their interiors and exteriors, who are reliable and ready at any time.

Holle is a minimalist design created by London-based designer Geoffroy Gillant. Holle is a mirror, but also a trinket holder, from which ties and scarves may be hung. It reflects part of the image at the same time as it absorbs another, giving the impression of breathing.

Geoffroy Gillant studied product design at ESAD Reims (France) where he obtains a DNAP (Bachelor, 2009) and a DNSEP (Master, 2012), both with honors. Involved in developing an experimental research and an anthropological afterthought within his projects, creation represents for him the opportunity to expand his own consciousness and to share his thoughts and results with people.

Straight afterwards he moves to Milan Italy looking for new goals and achievements. He attends a Master in Product and Interior Design where he has the opportunity to collaborate with some prestigious
brands.

Year: 2013

Folm Arts Beauty Salon is a minimalist building located in Osaka, Japan, designed by Tsubasa Iwasashi Architects. The renovation took place on the 10th year anniversary of the salon. The most characteristic element of the structure is the monolithic white facade that has a small cutout at the entrance in the shape of a house.

This small cutout extends into the interior of the building, giving the impression that an individual is walking through a tunnel. The white interior is accented by wood details and cement flooring.
