I remember when I first saw Eames’ plywood LCW, and I knew there was something special about the chair. Well, the same feeling has resurfaced for the bigbendtable, designed by Jeff Miller for Baleri.
What intrigues me is the sheer magnitude of the molded plywood. The curved multi-plywood is symmetrically merged to allow ample surface area for the top to rest comfortably. The top can be made of either plywood or tempered glass. The finishes range anywhere from bleached white oak veneer to burgundy and black colors.
I love the hinges that hold the plywood pieces together. Since they are necessary in their function, they produce a mechanical feel that contrasts its organic composition.
