Name: Corniches
Designer: Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec
Location: Paris, France
Based out of their Paris studio, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec are designers (and brothers) who have worked together since 1999. Their projects range from small objects to large-scale architecture and interior design. The Bouroullec brothers have designed products including furniture, dishware, jewelry, home décor and other accessories. Most recently, they won the prestigious 2013 A&W Designer of the Year Award.
One of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec’s latest pieces are the Corniches shelves for the Switzerland-based design company, Vitra. These nature-inspired designs are informal, minimal, versatile and modern at the same time. These shelves were born from a need to store spontaneous items of everyday life. Instead of building a large, connected shelving unit, the Bouroullec brothers decided to create individual and isolated pieces that can all work together to create a large installation or a simply work alone as a functional shelf.
The Corniches shelves are made of ABS and come in white, black and red. The Bouroullec brothers have designed a new way to personalize storage systems and a modern approach to using wall space effectively.
