FACES is a minimal side table created by Osaka-based designer Yosuke Shimano. His father, an explorer and furniture store owner, and his sister, a fashion buyer, provided a rich background of inspiration. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in product design at Tama Art University, he gained extensive experience working as a designer for a titanium eyewear manufacturer in Sabae, Fukui, and New York for eight and a half years. One of his most recent creations is the FACES side table. This piece plays with light in a unique manner, appearing to float from certain angles and capturing ambient light in a way that highlights the changing interplay of light between day and night. FACES reinterprets standardized industrial architectural components, merging aesthetics and function to redefine the value of objects in contemporary design.
