Lira Chair is a minimalist chair created by Sweden-based designer Daniel Rybakken, made for and presented by ALIAS at Salone del Mobile 2024. The chair features a distinctive minimalist aesthetic, underscored by its simple yet effective use of materials and structure. It comprises two solid ash wood slats fixed to elongated lacquered steel legs, supporting a cantilevered seat and a curved wooden backrest. Lira’s design marries form and function with its stackable feature and an iconic silhouette that stands out in any setting. Rybakken’s approach was to fuse minimalistic appeal with practical utility, focusing on creating a piece that is both visually striking and functionally sound.

The chair’s comfort is enhanced by the significant curve of the backrest, designed to offer support and ease for the user. Materially, Lira utilizes solid ash wood for both the seat and the backrest, available in either a natural wood finish or various colored stains. The steel legs are finished in a range of colors and textures, from textured to glossy, adding to the chair’s versatile aesthetic. Lira’s robust personality and geometric form make it a suitable choice for diverse environments, from dining rooms and offices to public spaces. An additional practical feature is the chair’s ability to sit flush on tabletops, facilitating easier cleaning of the area beneath.
