By far one of the coolest chairs I’ve seen to date. The Robo Chair, designed by Luca Nichetto for Offecct, is a stackable, plywood/ metal marvel.
Even better are the prototypes he first produced to explore the form and function. The way Nichetto approaches this project is a good example of a man fulfilling his vision. He was intrigued by the realism of robotic behavior, and subsequently translated this enthusiasm into the Robo Chair. Designer chairs are starting to mesh together into a blurry indifference, even with the use of extravagant materials and colorful hues. The Robo Chair is modest and direct. It sets itself apart by not comparing to the rest in the first place.
I have a strong attachment to this chair – and I don’t even own one. It would be one those objects in the house that stand out from the rest – always grabbing your attention first.
