Saya is a minimalist chair designed by Spain-based designer Lievore Altherr Molina. She describes her creation as a result of the search for a design inspired by the warmth and life of a cozy home. Her material of choice was wood because of how it symbolizes lightness, softness, and naturalness. She began her creation by cutting out paper silhouettes and investigating color combinations and veneer possibilities. (1)

When I first came across designer chairs, I was in love with everything I saw. From Eames to Panton, every single mid-century classic and designer chair had an aesthetic that appealed to me. However, over the years while working within the furniture industry and designing my own chairs, it now takes an incredible design for me to be even slightly impressed. Saya, although not my favorite, is definitely a chair I find aesthetically pleasing.
