Screw Stool is a minimalist design created by Netherlands-based designer Hans van Sinderen. The designer was inspired by seamless connections. By making a screw mechanism he was able to ‘hide’ the connection. However, Sinderen wanted to make the product as a flat packed product. As a result, he divided the screw in three parts and created the screw thread as 1/3 of a circle to make sure the screw thread was repetitive. By 3d printing the prototype connection and creating a silicon mold of the prototype, he was able to quickly reproduce the connection parts and create three identical legs. The seat is the nut that connects the three legs together. The nut was casted directly into the wood.
