This is one of the first desks I saw that made a significant impression on me as a designer. There’s nothing truly special about this desk – other than the fact that I still find it difficult to wrap my head around its incredible thinness. To me, its more about the aesthetic with Thinner, designed by Tobias Berneth. I don’t mind hearing about its 6mm material thickness, and how the design was inspired by the wing of an airplane, but observation, alone, is enough to convince me of its inimitable pulchritude.
The simplicity of this desk is enticing; it looks as though the surface is holding all of your desktop peripherals on a layer of air. There is also a thin strip of black that outlines the edge of the desk, which deliberately pronounce the outer margin.
