UP is a minimal modular sofa designed by Norwegian-based designer Berg Knudsen Hindenes. The project for the sofa began as a request from a Norwegian TV channel for new seating. Fora Form was contracted as the project’s manufacturer and developer. Since then, UP has evolved into entire modular system of sofas for waiting areas and meeting places. The designers wanted the sofa to have a clean look, but with a strong character and expression.

There are always designs that are more fitting in certain spaces than others. In terms of the lounge/waiting area space, UP couldn’t be a more perfect choice. It has an incredibly sleek aesthetic that would give any interior a boost. It also looks as though it might be quite comfortable to sit on for brief periods at a time, but it’s not a sofa for unwinding after a long day of work. I love how the backrest connects to the seating in an almost organic manner.
