Dinesen & Garde Hvalsoe Showroom is a minimalist space located in Aarhus, Denmark, designed by Studio David Thulstrup. Architecture and interior design of a combined showroom for Dinesen and Garde Hvalsøe in a richly decorated space in a heritage apartment building in Aarhus, Denmark. Set up like a home, the project plays up the heritage features like the hand painted glass ceilings and dark woodwork, adding edgy contemporary elements. It involved a high degree of bespoke design from a monolithic staircase made completely in Dinesen Douglas and a sculpture inspired by wood stacked during the drying process, to specially created paint colors picking out tones from the ceiling, and huge light boxes. Custom pieces include freestanding storage units, a minimalist 18-seater table made of Dinesen Douglas planks stained tomato red, metal daybed and a coffee table in folded metal steel with a yellow-zinc opalescent coating.
