Licht is a minimalist gallery space located in Tokyo, Japan, designed by CASE-REAL.The client of this project was a shop owner who sells 1950’s European and Nordic furnitures. The request was to create their shop located in an old building into a white cube that can be used as their shop and also a gallery. However due to the number of windows on the floor, there was a need to control the incoming light. As a solution, part of the walls along the windows were stretched, and some of the windows were replaced with fixed frost windows. A half-transparent curtain was combined with these characteristics as a way to control the level of incoming light. The space design was done according to the lines of the pillars and beams, creating four continuing zones. The existing floor was brushed and used, while the aim for us was to maintain a soft feeling along with a certain tension to the atmosphere.
