Amphidromous Rectangle : CSM 402 Renovation is a minimalist interior designed by Jun Murata. The site is situated near Osaka City’s transportation nucleus, so the client hoped for a design that would not only provide a peaceful but interesting haven for themselves, but one that could also accommodate at least one guest eager for a well-equipped work space.
The northern wall which extends to the west from the east materializing with a blurred reflection. It works as a screen which makes various light and scenes appear vaguely. Reflected virtual illuminance amplifies the sense of fluidity and abstractness in the space producing a space with an expressive fragmentary feel.
In addition slits were cut into the doors that allow natural light from the western openings to reach across 10 meters of depth that illuminate all corners of the home during the day.
I was ecstatic when I received this submission from Jun Murata. Honestly, what more could I ask for in this spectacular interior. I realize this space isn’t for everyone, but in all honesty, I would take these images and just tell my future interior designer to replicate this exact design, just as I would a haircut. If any of you have seen the movie, “The Island,” I want my room to look as similar as possible to the one Lincoln 6 Echo woke up to in the very beginning of the movie, mixed with Amphidromous Rectangle : CSM 402 Renovation.
