Dutchess House No. 1 by Grzywinski+Pons

Name: Dutchess House #1

Designer: Grzywinski+Pons

Location: Millerton, New York

The Dutchess House #1 is a recently built family home in Millerton, New York (bordering CT). The house was built with minimal design, using embossed metallic brick for the exterior and flat ivory white furnishings for the interior. Although the home doesn’t have particularly massive windows, Grywinksi+Pons do a good job with bouncing light around to brighten up the interior space, making it seem larger than it actually is.

Lemon-yellow accents are seen around the house, along with natural wood furniture dividers, which add charm to the rooms.  Some say it may be odd design for an upper middle class family home, but I say it is a nice aesthetic break from the cookie cutter “McMansions” that are so commonly seen near upstate New York.
