Name: House of Koganei
Designer: Kiyonobu Nakagame Architects and Associates
Location: Tokyo, Japan
House of Koganei is a minimal home located in Tokyo, Japan, designed by Kiyonobu Nakagame Architects and Associates. The home is a private residence which completed its construction early 2012. The building is three stories, and is composed of concrete and wood for the flooring.
The reason why I love Japanese homes so much is because they remind me of the forts I used to build back when I was a kid. I’m not afraid to admit it, I don’t think I’ve gotten over the sheer pleasure of relaxing in a small, enclosed space made of over-turned sofas. House of Koganei is just a slightly larger, more modern version of the DYI shelters. I personally love the winding staircase and exposed concrete that are present in most Japanese homes. What can I say, I just love Brutalist architecture.
