Name: House in Rokko
Designer: Tato Architects
Location: Kobe, Japan
House in Rokko is a minimal home located in Kobe, Japan, designed by Tato Architects. The two-storey steel structure sits atop a flattened slope with a concrete foundation. The ground level is completely enclosed by glass, while the upper floor is fitted with metal panelling. The transparent bottom level contains the living room, dining room, and kitchen – an ideal setting for entertaining guests while enjoying the view.
I’m only going to assume this is the same Kobe where Kobe beef comes from. I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything even remotely resembling this home. It looks like the combination of a boat house and a container home. You can’t argue the view this minimalist house gets, and the fact that the Japanese know how to live in a simplified space. The lack of privacy is a bit disturbing, but I’ve never lived in something like this so I can’t really judge. I’m really curious to hear what you guys this, what are your thoughts on this?
