Location: Suita-shi, Japan
House in Suita is a minimal home located in Suita-shi, designed by Horibe Naoko Architect Office. Two glass cubes are plastered on the front façade of the building, both of which have panoramic views of the surrounding areas. High-function spaces such as the kitchen and dining room are placed at ground level, while the living and bedrooms are on the upper floors. The home also contains a courtyard that can be accessed through the TV room or master bedroom.
I have to give props to the photographer because he/she captures the lighting within this interior in its more natural form. Instead of the fake, overexposed interiors I’m used to seeing, these photos depict the beautiful contrast of natural lighting and dim shadowing. For instance inside the TV room, the photographer, instead of taking two consecutive shots, decided to wait for the light to hit the sofa at exactly the right angle before making the composition. As a result, you instantly feel the atmosphere set by the architecture and minimalist composure of the space.
