Kitaoji Residence is a minimal home located in Kyoto, Japan, designed by Torafu Architects. The home was built in such a way that a wheelchair can be accessible anywhere. A large opening can be seen on the upper floor facing the South side of the home which reveals the terrace and allows natural light to enter the rest of the interior.

Walls were built up to the second floor in order to provide additional privacy for the residents. Some of the rooms in the upper floors lack a window facing the street, and receive natural light through openings in the ceiling. Ostensibly small and seemingly congested, the inside of the home is actually quite spacious and open.
