Mita Residence is a minimal home located in Tokyo, Japan, designed by YJP Architecture. The house is situated on a sloped street connecting a busy commercial region with a residential area. The aim of the architects was to seamlessly place this smaller-sized dwelling on a 100 sqm lot alongside larger condominium complexes.

The form of the building is obtained from the typical Japanese shop-house seen throughout Tokyo. The interior expresses minimalism in its best form: clean, but not overbearingly cold and stark. Neutral colors and materials were used throughout the interior space in order to obtain this warm atmosphere. Large windows allow ample lighting to enter into the home to give the space a sense of openness.
