Name: Porto Salvo
Designer: David Perri
Location: Sicily, Italy
Porto Salvo is a minimalist house located in Sicily, Italy, designed by David Perri. The project is a renovation of an existing building from the 18th century. The structure survived the earthquake of Sicily, and the architects decided it was imperative to preserve all existing elements of the past.
The home has tall ceilings with wooden trusses that emulate a bird’s nest of sorts. As a result, the living spaces are very open – the bedroom even has a different levels in order to take advantage of the ceiling height. The interior consists mainly of white and light wood mixes. The ceiling binds and flooring match with a darker colored wood.
