West 96th Street is a minimalist apartment located in New York City, designed by Arctangent Architecture in collaboration with David Hu Architect. The nine-floor apartment complex has additional commercial space on the ground floor. The main characteristic of this building is the undulating powder-coated laser-cut steel veil that serves as each unit’s balcony as well as a unique design aesthetic.

The actual undulation of the perforated elements vary from floor to floor, and flare more towards the top of the building. The building was also designed for sustainability, and includes an exterior shading system, low-e glazing, recycled and locally sourced materials, and low-voc finishes.
