Tea House is a minimal environment by Los Angeles-based designer Mimi Jung. Though typically infused with religious and cultural affiliations, Mimi Jung’s modern interpretation of a tea house focuses on the power of solace and introspection. By manipulating the tea house’s semi-permeable revolving walls, the viewer can step from the outside to the house’s hidden, isolated interior. The need to physically push and pull the house’s concentric walls highlights the tension between polar opposites – internal and external experience – whose existence depends on their contrast with one another.  The single absolute in Jung’s shifting structure is a low wooden table in the centre, inviting the occupant to sit for a moment in solitude and create a ritual of their own.
