Nebula is a minimal design created by Osaka-based designer Chiaki Murata of Metaphys. I went to the Metaphys office in Osaka today, and was surrounded by a heavenly assemblage of beautiful designs and talented individuals. I had the chance to sit down with Mr. Murata, and he is every bit as humble and talented as I could have imagined. He and his team introduced a few of their newest products to me, which I will have the great pleasure of posting within the next few days. (2)

Nebula was the first design he introduced that caught my eye. I was able to play around with it first hand, and it is as unique as it is mesmerizing. The influence of this design comes from the traditional hourglass. However, instead of sand, flowing drops of LED lights filter through the polycarbonate surface. In order to set the timer, all you would need to do is press the button at the top. Each press of the button equals one minute. If you are cooking something that requires three minutes of simmering, you would press the button three times and voilà. It is a brilliant design that could be used for a plethora of occasions. Nebula can be battery operated, or connected with a micro-usb. Leibal will definitely be selling Nebula very soon. Tell me what you guys think!
