Swell is a small collection of desktop pieces constructed of cement that is manipulated into two different shapes. These pieces were designed for ultimate function and allure. The collection includes a small paperweight design that can transform into a coin tray or a writing utensil holder. The larger piece can function the same way the paperweight does, if not better.

The name for the collection was inspired by a surfer vernacular term, “swell”, which is commonly used to describe the idea conditions of catching a great wave. Swell offers a great way to organize small desk items into a modern, concrete design that’s meant to be just swell.

About the Author – Kyle Troutman

I was used to being around his closest contractor buddies and making the usual Home Depot trips with him on the weekends. So, instead of becoming a designer (or even an architect), editing and following design trends became my passion. I’ve worked at Country Living magazine, founded and edited a men’s magazine at my college, and now work in design PR.
