The Truncheon Lamp, designed by Commonwealth, is a very interesting LED task lamp that infuses both traditional and modern design methodologies.
The use of materials is very traditional; the structure is made out of wood – maple to be more precise. On the other end of the spectrum, the production of the lamp is advanced, using CNC-milling to accurately carve out its shape. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a modern wooden lamp before. Then again, I wouldn’t bother to care if I saw a wooden lamp because it would most likely look terrible. However, the Truncheon is very aesthetically appealing. Whether its the soft colors, simplistic form, or unique material choice, this task lamp is designed with the modern home in mind.
