Carabottino is a minimalist furniture series designed by Milan-based studio CARA \ DAVIDE for Medulum. A wooden grating in a two-dimensional form traditionally made with wooden slats, it is considered an object in itself – there are no grating objects or carabottinos that have become objects. Its graphic appearance, a consequence of its construction logic, makes it recognizable and punctuated by vertical and horizontal intersections; the interplay of full and empty spaces, of images that overlap and are filtered through their weave. A wooden lattice that is presented in a two-dimensional form traditionally made of wooden slats, is considered an accessory element, of relative importance a bit like a fixture, architectural components, it is not perceived as an object in itself, there are no grating objects or grills become objects. Its graphic appearance, a consequence of the construction logic, makes it recognizable and punctuated by vertical and horizontal intersections, the play of solids and voids, of images that overlap and that are filtered through their weft makes them vibrant as if they were moving pictures.
