Vannfall is a minimalist vase created by Tokyo-based designer Jin Kuramoto for Nedre Foss. The production process has become somewhat experimental. First, palm rope wrap was made around a frame consisting of wire with an application of fibrous clay dissolved in water. The incomplete shape and texture of the surface of this manual model are scanned as 3D data using a special 3D camera, and the 3D data is analyzed and optimized. Based on this data, a metal mold for glass forming was produced by CNC cutting. Finally, the material was replaced with glass, and a glass jug was manufactured using blown glass and injection molding together.
