N1 Penthouse is a minimal penthouse located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, designed by zU-studio. The house’s uniqueness lies in its innovative understanding of space and volume, providing a wide range of spaces, sequences, and visual connections. The design aims to create a peaceful, calming atmosphere, encouraging deeper connections with oneself and others. The home’s structure is characterized by its clarity and organization, celebrating the use of noble materials and timeless pieces that have been custom made for the project. Each detail has been carefully crafted and designed, including two long steel platforms that serve as coffee and tea tables, offering a panoramic view of the entire space and skylight above the central staircase.

This jewel in the heart of the city is an exceptional place to live, especially during the gray and rainy weather that characterizes Amsterdam. The ambiance at night is sensual, elegant, cozy, and serene, enhanced by indirect lighting. The house is organized into two levels, connected by a striking amphitheater that faces a steel library and skylight, providing ample light throughout the space. The central piece not only serves as a physical connector but also functions as a versatile furniture piece for movie-watching, brainstorming, or even live performances on the stage. The second floor serves as the common living area, with a spacious open layout featuring a custom statuario marble kitchen that creates a dialogue with a carefully designed fireplace.

The modular sofa in front of a panoramic window and wooden bench is a new addition to the space, offering a unique aesthetic. On the first floor, there are three bedrooms, including a generously sized master bedroom connected to a bathroom with a sculptural marble bathtub, two showers, and a beautiful Scandinavian sauna. The minimal sculptural off-white ceiling with three solid wooden beams showcases the roof’s structural order. Overall, Nº1 is an exquisite private residence that combines exceptional design with functionality, creating a harmonious and peaceful atmosphere that can be appreciated at any time of day or night.
