Profana is a minimalist light created by Brazil-based designer Pedro Paulø-Venzon for Matter Made. According to Giorgio Agamben, to profane is to bring into the human realm that which was only devoted to the gods. This discussion about inversion is the point of departure for Profana, an illumination piece that results from a contemporary rereading of the Brazilian Colonial apparatus, from the order of blurring and from mestizoness. Designed according to a delicate balance, it intends to cause a disruption to Latin American discourses on architecture and religious syncretism, and notes the existence of the cultural drama still in transformation.
