Open! Furniture is a minimalist furniture series designed by Tokyo-based studio Torafu Architects. The project was conceived to discover new possibilities of public spaces within the Minato Ward through street walking, furniture production, and art events. Working in collaboration with Shibaura House and Ishinomaki Studio field work and workshop, various generations from adults to children were gathered around in this area. The small furniture series supports the surrounding environment, such as a small table to be attached to a handrail, a small surface which sits just by putting it on a step of a stairway, a large sushi tray used from the top of an existing bench to overlap, and so on. This furniture series aimed at becoming a point of contact that connects a canal and a land.
