House Higashi-Kubancho is a minimalist house located in Miyagi, Japan, designed by Kazuya Saito Architects. The two-story residence is located in an area with an expanse of temples and an extensive 400 year history to match. The clients requested for a wheelchair accessible home for his aging parents, as well as high-ceilings. The architects placed the house toward the West side, and situated the garden toward the East. They put in as much emphasis on the home as they did on the garden. Each of the rooms within the home have a unique relationship with the garden as a result.
