House with a Plum Tree is a minimalist residence located in Fukuoka, Japan, designed by Arishima Tadao Architects Office. The clients requested that a plum tree in the middle of the site remain untouched, therefore, the architects planned the entire structure around the tree. An interior courtyard was the perfect solution to not only provide space for the tree, but display it proudly with no visual obstruction from all sides of the home.
