House in Shukugawa is a minimalist residence located in Hyogo, Japan, designed by NRM* Architects Office. The home is a corner lot facing the South and West with heavy traffic patterns toward the West. As a result, the architects placed much of the interior’s focal point toward the South where there is more privacy. The space utilizes a unique Herringbone wooden floor pattern to create a dichotomy between the interior and outdoor terrace. The exterior facade is also a stark contrast against the traditional homes within the neighborhood.
