Maisons à Pontaillac is a minimalist house located in Royan, France, designed by Atelier 6 Architecture. The project is characterized by its use of heavy materials, a requirement in order to integrate the detached home within this region. As a result, the home uses the notion of stereotomy, thickness and gravity. Concrete blocks are coated in white, while rooftop elements are left grey. The clients wanted the ground floor to contain all day-to-day activities, with the upper levels focused on accommodation.
