Octavia Casa is a minimal boutique hotel located in Mexico City, Mexico, designd by PPAA. Octavia is a Mexican fashion brand that commissioned the office of a boutique hotel that involved the concept of the fashion brand. The hotel is to be built on a site where an old house sits, in Colonia Condesa in Mexico City. La Condesa is an historic district of Mexico City, were houses were constructed side by side and there is a dynamic pedestrian and neighborhood life. Due to these parameters, building regulations are very strict on the area, and were reflected on the development of the project.
A minimum patio had to be considered for ventilation, lighting and absorption purposes. This void and the next one being the circulations became the leading idea of the project, making a gesture on the main façade’s two large openings. These openings virtually connect the patios/voids to the street. The main structural axis follows this gesture throughout the project.
