Totoro is a minimalist residence designed by Japan-based architects Kiriko Bureau d’Architecture. The Totoro house project started with the search of a lot with a size of 330 sqm or larger. With much effort, the architects were able to discover the site, which is a combination of 540 sqm lot and 630 sqm farmland plot. Due to the additional farmland space, the architects were inspired to relate the project to the movie “My Neighbor Totoro.” The designers used a gabled roof design to match the surrounding architecture. They also used a big roof to give the house its one-story-home look.
