Bean Coffee Table is a minimalist coffee table created by Sweden-based office LI-AN-LO Studio presented at this year’s Stockholm Creative Edition as part of IN BETWEEN. IN BETWEEN is a newly launched initiative, today with members Lisa Lindh, Lina Rex (LI-AN-LO Studio), Emma Hjortenklev Wassberg and Anna Harström. Brought together by a common perception that through their different backgrounds, schools and practice in different materials, coming together strengthens the whole. They wanted to take part in encouraging dialogue and cross-border collaborations where different materials, shapes and ideas can meet and give life to something new. Through furniture, art and spatial installation, there is a closing gap between art and design, which opens up a space for dialogue and aesthetic exploration.

The design subtly captures the essence of elements breaking through to the surface, while others are yet to be exposed. With an adaptable form, the table invites personalization, permitting the glass to be flipped for optimal harmony with the surroundings. The robust base, fashioned from solid spruce, is the backbone of this design, anchoring the seemingly delicate glass top. A harmonious marriage of geometry and scale, the piece exudes contemporary charm. The tables are meticulously handcrafted in Bodafors, utilizing locally sourced trees of larger dimensions. These trees, seldom employed in furniture production due to the challenges they present for sawmills, would typically be reduced to wood chips for heat generation. By repurposing these trees, the creators are injecting new life into them and steering towards a sustainable future.
