The Bone Dining Table is a minimalist dining table by the Brooklyn-based design studio, Mokko Seishin. Designed and fabricated by the studio’s founder, Robert Rurup, the table reflects the studio’s commitment to heirloom-quality craftsmanship and an enduring connection to the spirit of woodworking.
Inspired by traditional timber framing, a construction method once common in the building of homes and barns, the Bone Dining Table celebrates joinery as both structure and ornament. Its key joints are secured using wedges and tapered pegs, eliminating the need for glue or mechanical hardware. Assembly requires only a mallet, allowing the piece to be easily put together, taken apart, or subtly tightened over time to accommodate seasonal wood movement.
Handcrafted from FSC-certified ash and white oak and finished with a natural hardwax, the Bone Dining Table embodies Mokko Seishin’s ethos of crafting pieces meant to last for generations while leaving the lightest environmental footprint possible. With its quiet engineering and timeless form, the table encourages a way of living that respects nature and finds beauty in the integrity of materials.
