Bow Chair is a minimalist chair designed by London-based studio Industrial Facility for TAKT, presented during 3daysofdesign. The Bow Chair showcases a unique approach to plywood, shaping the back and arms from a single piece. This method aligns with Industrial Facility’s commitment to elegant and rigorous design. The Bow Chair emphasizes longevity, featuring easy repairs with accessible replacement parts. Its certified materials and supply chain underscore TAKT’s dedication to genuine circularity. Inspired by tailoring techniques, Hecht and Colin used a process similar to cutting fabric patterns to create the chair’s back and arms.
This innovative design, supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction, enhances comfort through natural movement in the plywood back. As described by Sam Hecht, cofounder of Industrial Facility, “We believe Bow Chair epitomises TAKT’s philosophy — it’s simple to assemble, economical to produce, and cleverly combines industrial and craft expertise to minimise waste.” The Bow Chair’s sleek and elegant forms are designed for easy assembly by the customer, reducing both costs and carbon emissions during shipping.
