In late 2011, Belgian Duo “Muller Van Severen” made their debut with the “Duo Seat + Lamp” at Design Brussels. This creation brings together two seats crafted from lacquered steel and luxurious natural leather, meticulously stitched by hand onto the frame. What sets this piece apart is its juxtaposition of a sleek rectangular shape with gracefully curved leather panels. The design seamlessly integrates the backrest of one seat into the armrest of the other, using round steel bars instead of the more common square or L-shaped profiles seen in previous designs.

Muller Van Severen aimed to emphasize the essence of seating simplicity. Their approach boils down to the purest form of design: suspending a piece of cloth between two bars. “Duo Seat + Lamp” encourages people to sit in close proximity, fostering a sense of connection while maintaining a sense of privacy, making it a thought-provoking addition to any space.
