FI04 Desk is a minimal desk from the new Fiori Collection designed by Paris-based designer Francesco Balzano for STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN. Drawing from the structured beauty of historic Italian landscapes, the collection reimagines the symmetry and order of these cultivated spaces, reducing their complexity into minimalist compositions. Negative space plays a key role in these works, highlighting an interplay between form and absence that is as deliberate as the physical structures themselves. The collection’s designs echo the clarity and proportion of Italy’s Rationalist architecture, where simplicity and symmetry create an enduring sense of balance.

Despite their disciplined geometry, the pieces avoid rigidity, employing subtle shifts in perspective and counterpoints that create dynamic visual rhythms. As viewers move around each piece, the forms reveal new perspectives, offering a refined sense of movement and airiness. Crafted primarily from oak and white lacquer, the collection juxtaposes natural warmth with a polished, contemporary finish. This contrast evokes the harmony often found in nature—where light and shadow, texture and smoothness, coexist seamlessly. The restrained elegance of these materials further enhances the sense of clarity and refinement inherent in the design.
