The Fragment Side Table is a minimalist side table by the Seoul-based design practice, Fict Studio. Designed by the studio’s founder, Heakyoung Jang, the table is a part of the ongoing Fragment series: a collection of furniture that re-examines the value of marble fragments typically discarded during the stone’s processing, proposing new ways of seeing the material as both functional and beautiful.

Rather than concealing the rough textures and irregular edges of these fragments, Jang treats them as essential to the design. Each table is formed from three resin slabs, two as legs and one as the top, joined together to create a sculptural volume. The resin lends translucency and depth, amplifying the tension between strength and delicacy, while rounded edges soften the table’s geometric outline. Within the resin, fossilized marble fragments appear suspended, like artifacts captured in time.

Available in black, brown, green, and yellow (with the black edition developed exclusively in collaboration with Form Editions) the Fragment Side Table embodies a balance of rawness and refinement. It extends Jang’s pursuit of designs that blur the line between sculpture and utility, while inviting a reconsideration of material life cycles.
